Fire Protection Systems

Engineering Active Defences Against Fire

We design and implement fire protection systems that form a critical layer of any comprehensive safety strategy. These active systems are engineered to detect, control, and in some cases fully extinguish fires, either containing the hazard until firefighters arrive or eliminating it altogether. All designs are developed in accordance with recognized international standards, including those set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), ensuring compliance and reliability. We specialize in the following systems:

Fire Sprinkler Systems

• Wet Fire Sprinkler Systems: Constantly pressurized with water, providing immediate discharge upon activation. Suitable for environments above freezing temperatures, offering a reliable and cost-effective solution.

• Dry Fire Sprinkler Systems: Designed for cold environments where freezing is a concern. Pipes are filled with pressurized air or nitrogen, which releases before water enters the system to suppress the fire.

• Pre-Action Systems: Used in sensitive facilities such as data centres and museums. These systems require a two-step activation process (single- or double-interlock) to minimize accidental water discharge and provide an extra layer of protection.

• Deluge Systems: Used in high-hazard environments where rapid fire spread is possible. Open sprinkler heads release a simultaneous discharge of water once the deluge valve is triggered.

Clean Agent Systems

Clean agent suppression systems use chemical agents to suppress fires without damaging sensitive equipment. They work by reducing oxygen, disrupting chemical reactions, or cooling the fire, and are regulated by NFPA 2001. Commonly used in server rooms, museums, and areas where water-based suppression is not suitable.

Foam & Water Mist Systems

• Foam Systems: Designed for hazards involving flammable or combustible liquids, such as refineries or industrial plants, creating a foam blanket that smothers the fire and prevents vapor release.

• Water Mist Systems: Used to discharge ultra-fine droplets that suppress fire by cooling, wetting, and displacing oxygen, making them highly effective with minimal water usage and reduced collateral damage.

By combining technical expertise with international best practices, Aman delivers fire protection systems that are tailored to each facility’s risks and operational requirements. Fire Alarm & Detection Systems

The Early Warning Network

We design and specify fire alarm and detection systems that provide early warning and enable a coordinated response during emergencies. These systems are a cornerstone of any life safety strategy, ensuring that occupants are alerted quickly and guided to safety.

Our services include selecting and integrating the most suitable system for each facility, tailored to its unique risks and operational requirements. We design solutions that incorporate smoke detectors, heat sensors, and manual pull stations, ensuring full coverage and reliability. To maintain effectiveness, we also emphasize the importance of regular inspection, testing, and maintenance in accordance with international standards.

Fire alarm and detection systems can also be integrated into a broader life safety network that includes public address and voice alarm (PAVA) systems. This ensures not only timely detection but also the delivery of clear, actionable instructions to occupants, supporting safe and orderly evacuation in high-stress situations.

By combining technical expertise with international best practices, Aman delivers fire alarm and detection systems that are precise, dependable, and seamlessly integrated into the overall fire protection strategy.

PAVA Systems

Directing Occupants with Clarity

We design Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) systems that deliver clear, reliable communication in public and high-occupancy spaces such as airports, shopping malls, transportation hubs, and commercial complexes. Unlike traditional alarm systems, PAVA systems provide intelligible voice messages that guide occupants to safety, reduce confusion, and prevent panic during emergencies. Key features of our PAVA systems include:

• Core Components: Microphones, amplifiers, loudspeakers, and control units configured for clarity and reliability.

• Emergency Integration: Seamless connection with fire detection and life safety systems to automatically broadcast timely, coordinated evacuation instructions.

• Advanced Functionality: Capability to deliver both live and pre-recorded messages, as well as zonal broadcasting. This allows specific messages to be directed to different areas within a building, which is essential for phased evacuation strategies in large or complex facilities.

By combining technical expertise with international best practices, Aman ensures that PAVA systems are not only a compliance requirement but a vital life safety asset. Our solutions enhance emergency response efficiency, improve public safety, and provide reassurance to both building owners and occupants.

Smoke Management Systems

Clearing the Path to Safety

We design smoke management systems that play a vital role in protecting life safety during a fire. These systems are engineered to control and direct smoke, keeping escape routes clear for occupants and creating safer conditions for first responders. Since smoke inhalation is the leading cause of fire-related deaths, effective smoke management is a critical safety feature in high-rise buildings, large complexes, and other high-occupancy structures. Our smoke management system designs include:

• Passive & Mechanical Components: Incorporating fire-rated walls and smoke curtains to contain smoke, alongside mechanical elements such as smoke exhaust fans and pressurization systems that remove smoke or maintain positive pressure in protected areas like stairwells and corridors.

• Design Considerations: Addressing complex factors including the stack effect, wind conditions, and integration with HVAC systems. Ensuring systems are supported by standby power sources, such as generators, so they remain fully operational during power outages. Our designs are built for resilience, capable of continuous operation for at least 20 minutes or 1.5 times the calculated evacuation time, whichever is greater.

By combining engineering expertise with international standards, Aman delivers smoke management systems that are robust, reliable, and seamlessly integrated into the overall fire safety strategy. These systems provide critical protection that saves lives, reduces risk, and enhances building resilience.

Structural Fire Protection

The Passive Safeguards

We provide expertise in structural fire protection, a core element of passive fire protection (PFP). Unlike active systems, passive measures do not require activation. Instead, they are built into the structure to slow or prevent the spread of fire and smoke, preserving building integrity long enough for safe evacuation and for firefighters to respond effectively. Key components of structural fire protection, include:

• Fire Rated Assemblies: Including walls, floors, and doors with defined fire-resistance ratings, expressed in hours. Firewalls are specially designed to subdivide buildings so that if one side collapses, the other side remains intact, enhancing safety and resilience.

• Firestopping: Applying specialized materials to seal penetrations in fire-rated walls and floors created by building systems such as pipes and cables. This process is critical for compartmentation, which confines fire and smoke to a defined area.

• Materials: Utilizing both intumescent materials, which expand when exposed to heat, and endothermic materials, which absorb heat. Common examples include gypsum wallboard, calcium silicate boards, and various firestop sealants and sleeves.

By integrating structural fire protection into the design, Aman ensures that buildings not only comply with international standards but also provide enhanced safety, resilience, and peace of mind for owners, occupants, and first responders.
