AHJ Representative Role

Navigating Regulatory Approval

We support clients by acting as their representative to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). The AHJ may include fire chiefs, fire marshals, or building officials responsible for enforcing building codes, fire codes, and other safety regulations at the local, state, or federal level. Our role ensures that projects run smoothly, achieve full compliance, and avoid costly delays, services include:

  • Early Engagement: Coordinating with the AHJ during the planning and pre-construction phases to align design decisions with code requirements.
  • Documentation: Preparing complete and accurate documentation such as specifications, site plans, and fire protection system details to streamline the review and approval process.
  • Negotiation: Engaging with the AHJ to resolve potential issues early and obtain approval for alternative materials or construction methods when appropriate.
  • Oversight: Reviewing designs, fire protection submittals, and performing pre-occupancy and final inspections to confirm compliance with codes and standards.

By serving as the link between our clients and the AHJ, Aman ensures clear communication, smoother approvals, and efficient project delivery.

Site Supervision Servies

Ensuring Quality & Compliance

We provide site supervision services during the construction phase to ensure that all fire and life safety measures are installed correctly and in full compliance with approved design plans. This service is critical for transforming design concepts into safe, functional systems and for identifying potential issues early, before they cause costly delays or rework. Our supervision services include:

  • Field Inspections: Monitoring fire protection activities on site to confirm compliance with building and fire codes.
  • Quality Control: Performing inspections before, during, and after tasks are completed to verify that both materials and workmanship meet project specifications.
  • Coordination: Collaborating with contractors and authorities to resolve on-site challenges such as changes in building materials or unforeseen conditions.
  • Documentation: Preparing detailed daily reports, reviewing contractor submittals, and conducting engineering studies to evaluate and document any unusual site conditions.

With Aman’s site supervision, clients gain confidence that fire and life safety systems are installed to the highest standard, ensuring both compliance and long-term reliability.

Testing & Commissioning

Verifying System Performance

We provide testing and commissioning services as a critical part of the construction lifecycle. These services ensure that fire and life safety systems not only comply with code requirements but also achieve the specified performance criteria. Through a structured and systematic approach, we document, verify, and sustain the functionality of a facility’s most essential safety assets. Our services include:

  • Third-Party Verification: Delivering independent pre-testing and commissioning services prior to governmental authority inspections. This proactive approach helps ensure that systems pass their critical inspections on the first attempt, saving both time and cost.
  • Systemic Evaluation: Testing a wide range of systems including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, smoke evacuation systems, and stairwell pressurization systems to confirm their readiness and performance.
  • Documentation: Providing complete records of findings and recommendations, creating an essential reference for project stakeholders and future facility management.

By partnering with Aman, clients gain confidence that their fire and life safety systems will perform reliably from day one, ensuring compliance, safety, and long-term operational resilience.

Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)

Final Verification on Location

We provide Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) services to ensure that newly installed systems meet all project requirements and are ready for safe and reliable operation. Conducted at the owner’s site after installation, the SAT provides documented evidence that equipment and systems have been delivered in good condition, have not been compromised during transportation, and function as intended in their operational environment, process includes:

  • Visual Check: Examining the physical site and installation to confirm compliance with project specifications.
  • Functionality Check: Verifying that systems perform as expected under real-world conditions.
  • Safety Check: Ensuring the site is safe for occupants and visitors by assessing hazards, checking egress routes, and confirming the absence of unsafe conditions.

SAT is the final stage of qualification on-site, confirming readiness for production and supporting the issuance of operational certificates. By delivering thorough SAT services, Aman ensures that clients receive systems that are fully functional, compliant, and ready for long-term use.

Site Integrity Testing (SIT)

A Check for Enclosure Airtightness

We provide Site Integrity Testing (SIT), also known as Room Integrity Testing (RIT), to ensure the effectiveness of gaseous fire suppression systems. This critical procedure measures the air tightness of enclosures to confirm that the extinguishing agent will remain in the protected space long enough to suppress a fire effectively. Without proper integrity, the gas can escape too quickly, reducing the system’s ability to control or extinguish a fire, the SIT process includes:

  • Pressure-Based Measurement: Pressurizing or depressurizing the enclosure and measuring the rate of pressure change.
  • Leakage Detection: Identifying leaks caused by gaps, cracks, worn seals, or improperly sealed penetrations from pipes and cables.
  • Retention Time Verification: Ensuring the extinguishing agent remains in the enclosure for at least 10 minutes, the minimum retention time recommended by NFPA 2001.

SIT is especially vital for facilities housing high-value assets or critical operations such as data centers, server rooms, and hospitals. By verifying the integrity of enclosures, Aman ensures that suppression systems will function as intended when an emergency occurs, safeguarding both people and assets.
