This project involved comprehensive fire and life safety consultancy services for the PIF Tower in Riyadh. The primary goal was to ensure that all implemented fire and life safety systems complied with the latest Saudi Building Code (SBC) and NFPA codes, and to secure final approval and a license from the Civil Defense (CD). The project was divided into a multi-stage process, starting with an audit of the existing facility.
Project Stages and Services
Aman International Engineering team provided a phased approach to ensure full compliance and a smooth approval process:
Stage 1: Existing Facility Audit
- A detailed review of all architectural and fire and life safety drawings was conducted. On-site visits were performed to review existing fire safety systems and confirm they matched the drawings.
- An audit report detailing all non-compliance points with Civil Defense regulations and SBC requirements was produced, providing the client with a clear path for required modifications.
Stage 2: Modification and Design Review
- The client's modifications to the drawings were reviewed, and on-site checks were conducted to ensure the implemented changes were accurate and compliant with the audit reportโs recommendations.
- Detailed reviews of the fire protection and fire alarm systems were provided, including sprinkler layouts, fire pumps, standpipe systems, clean agent systems, and smoke management systems.
Stage 3 & 4: Regulatory Approval and Final Testing
- A complete fire and life safety package (documents, drawings, reports, and calculations) was prepared and submitted to the Civil Defense. Meetings were coordinated, and the firm acted as the registered fire protection consultant to secure the initial and final approvals.
- Final tests were conducted on all modified safety systems. A final compliance report was prepared and submitted to the Civil Defense, certifying that all installed systems met the approved design drawings, leading to the final occupancy license for the building.
Project Outcome
The project successfully navigated a multi-stage process, ensuring the PIF Tower's fire and life safety systems were fully compliant with all applicable codes. The combination of meticulous design review, on-site verification, and direct liaison with the Civil Defense resulted in the final approval and licensing of the building, ensuring the highest safety standards for its occupants.
