This project involved providing fire engineering services for the Philex Pharmaceuticals Factory in Salalah, with a total built-up area of 14,520 square meters across four floors. The primary objective was to provide construction administration support services to ensure compliance with the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), local GCC codes, and NFPA standards. Our services were crucial for securing final approval for the facility.
Project Stages and Services
Aman International Engineering team focused on the following key areas to ensure the successful completion of the project:
Construction Administration Support
- Material and Shop Drawing Review: Material submittals and shop drawings for all fire and life safety systems, including emergency lighting, exit signage, and fire/smoke dampers, were reviewed to verify they met all code requirements.
- Site Visits: On-site visits were conducted to visually inspect the installations. Checklists were provided to document findings, and reports were issued on compliance and non-conformities.
- Testing and Commissioning: The functional testing of emergency lighting and damper systems was witnessed to confirm they operated as designed and met regulatory standards.
- Final Approval: A final report was prepared and submitted to the CDAA to secure the final occupancy license for the factory.
Project Outcome
The project successfully achieved its final regulatory approval through our comprehensive construction administration support. Our detailed review of materials and drawings, combined with on-site inspections and witnessing of testing, ensured that all fire and life safety systems were installed correctly and functioned as intended. This process resulted in a seamless handover and enhanced occupant safety within the facility.
