This project involved providing fire and life safety consultancy services for the Jabal Al Shifah Project, a large-scale development consisting of three distinct villages and a scenic route. The core objective was to ensure the project's designs and masterplan components complied with the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and NFPA Codes and Standards as adopted by the local Civil Defence (CD).
Project Stages and Services
Aman International Engineering team provided a focused, multi-stage approach to the project's fire and life safety requirements.
Conceptual Design Review (CDR) Services
- A comprehensive review of the conceptual site plan and building floor plans was conducted to ensure all structural fire safety features were in place. This also included verifying that the design addressed minimum requirements for fire department access and accessibility for people with disabilities.
- The project's fire and life safety strategy report was reviewed to evaluate compliance with applicable codes, including means of egress, fire department access, construction type, and fire-rating requirements.
- Technical support was provided by attending workshops and site visits to answer questions and provide code compliance support.
Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Approval
- The approved package was provided to the Civil Defence for their information as per their procedure. As a CD-licensed fire consultant, the design package was stamped, and meetings were arranged with the Civil Defence to review submittals and design philosophies.
Project Outcome
Successfully established a comprehensive fire and life safety framework for the multi-village development and scenic route. Aman International Engineering team's involvement in the conceptual design review and engagement with the Civil Defence ensured that the project was on a solid path to achieving regulatory compliance. The focus on early-stage design review and technical support provided the necessary guidance to align the project with both local and international safety standards.
